Pencil Drawing and Sketching

Course number : NCR 9581
« back to classes page

Drawing is fundamentally learning how to “see” and then to translate what you are seeing onto the paper.  It is a skill that anyone can learn – much like riding a bike or learning to drive a car.  The criteria for success are the desire to learn and a willingness to put in some time to practice.
In this very comprehensive six week class, you will learn not only how to sketch, but also how to create realistic, detailed, pencil drawings of a wide variety of subjects.  Through demonstrations and lots of drawing practice you will learn how to control the size of your drawings, understand perspective, see and quickly measure proportions, simplify complicated subjects and artistically arrange your subjects on the paper.
You will also discover how to see light and shadow and then translate that information into your drawings. The many subjects that you will be learning how to draw in this class include buildings, interiors, people, birds and animals, still life subjects and landscapes.
